What is a Phobia?

A phobia is an overwhelming and debilitating fear specific to a place, situation, object, or animal.

Phobias develop when we have an intense sense of danger about a situation or object. This usually develops early on in life, leading to high levels of anxiety and avoidance. This then exasperates the phobia and can change the way we experience life. It can stop us in our tracks and keep us from doing things that would bring our life joy and happiness. 

You are not alone

Fear is a normal and even healthy emotion; it cautions us to stay safe around something that could be dangerous. But sometimes fear is unnecessary and becomes a pattern that your subconscious mind has learnt. It could be through a series of past adverse events or traumatic experiences. The same emotions arise whenever you are facing that fearful situation, and the process becomes reinforced through repetition. This is when fear takes over our lives and can be debilitating, leading to phobias, panic attacks, or even feelings of being trapped.
